Hurricane Harvey’s devastating effects impacted roughly 400,000 veterans across Houston and the Texas Gulf Coast. In response to the disaster, the Qatar Harvey Fund (QHF) partnered with the Bob Woodruff Foundation (BWF) to deploy a $6 million grant helping veterans rebuild, recover, and thrive after the hurricane. When those veterans faced new and urgent challenges of illness, unemployment, uncertainty, and isolation due to COVID-19, we jumped into action to provide immediate relief. Since 2018, our partnership has provided meaningful support for 21 high-impact programs serving veterans living in 41 storm-impacted counties.
When Hurricane Ida hit New Orleans in 2021, BWF was ready. With the support of a generous donor, we responded rapidly to support veterans with urgent financial needs in NOLA.
Going forward, BWF is committed to building on our hurricane recovery work and supporting the UN Sustainable Development Goals, including Goal 11 Sustainable Cities and Communities and Goal 13 Climate Action.
